A customer of over 40 years in the oil furnace production industry contracted Elyria Metal Spinning to complete the construction of a custom burner shroud, utilized in an oil burner application. 16ga low carbon steel sheeting was circle sheared to reach the initial part configuration, which was then spun with hand levers and necked down to achieve the specified shape and dimensions. The outside diameter was knurled to affect a ridged pattern, and then was machined to length. After machining, the unit was cleaned and smoothed with a deburring process.

Holding the tightest tolerance of ±.005" throughout, the final dimensions of the shroud were 2.75" in length and 4" outside diameter. The part exhibited a raw spun finish. Turnaround time for this project was 6 to 8 weeks, shipping 200 units per order to the customer in North Ridgeville, Ohio.
